🎉the astrology of December 2024🎉festive... with a bang

To be very honest with you writing this newsletter today was challenging, which is why it’s now 5:26 PM and I’m just starting it. I’m feeling energetically spent after falling into an old emotional spiral of over-reactivity this weekend. When I took a deeper look at the astrology, I realized the perfect storm of it all.

This month starts off with a challenging lunation. Both the Sun and the New Moon in Sagittarius are making a square (challenging aspect) to Saturn, which represents our karmas. Put simply, the sun is our ego and the moon rules our emotions. All day, I’ve been sitting in reflection of this behaviour for which I thought I had hold on, but clearly didn’t. Not fully. And it brought up a fair amount of judgement, depletion and shame. Reminding myself that imperfect is okay….but also feeling the weight of my reactions on others.

However, I went for a walk during sunset and watched flocks of birds traverse the sky amongst the mountains & cotton candy hues, and somehow… things started to shift for the better. I looked up and saw this garden compass that sparked the recognition of an underlying theme this new moon presents to us….

Our choice. our will (which is everything). To begin again. To re-direct and re-orient ourselves and let the heart lead. Led by the possibility, not by fear. Not trauma or patterning, but by the heart’s grace, and her knowledge of what is possible for us.

Now is not the time to stay blindfolded by distractions, fears, or inadequacies, but to choose a direction and follow the inclinations of our heART. The energy of Sagittarius will take us there, as we confront those contracted places within us (Saturn), that fear opening up to life, growth, intimacy, the world….God.

Let’s be reasonable about our potential baby, and dream bigger. Choose different for ourselves if we’re not proud of where we’re at & open up to share our greatness, while being compassionate to weaknesses and where we’re learning. We are the student & the guru.

The transits are spicy to say the least, with ample time to reflect on where we are getting in our own way, and what has yet to be wrapped up into completion. Let’s give ourselves patience and compassion as we meet our edges in our relationships and open up to brand new ways of living, building and relating.

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON

A Sagittarius New Moon forms December 1 opposite Jupiter while squaring Saturn. Today there may be an amplification of old hurts or feelings of frustration that are bubbling up for a reason. Notice where you are in space, and bring it back to simplicity. Be honest with yourself. Be real about your faults with the people who care for you. Your nervous system could use some loving.

MERCURY CAZIMI

A Mercury Cazimi forms on December 5, as Mercury crosses the heart if the sun in Sagittarius. This is a special, lively day to receive intuitive insights that pierce through confusion and support you to expand in whichever house it falls on in your chart. Stay aware of conversations with others & take time to meditate with the higher part of you.

MARS RETROGRADE IN LEO

Mars retrograde begins on December 6 until the end of February 2025. This time is not great for the initiation of new projects, but to recognize where there are energetic leaks around you with what you have not completed. What creative projects, tasks or relationships are needing an infusion of your passionate attention? Those things you started months ago…. but never wrapped up, could be calling for your investment now. What you are taking action toward will inevitably be analyzed during this time as you want to be proud of what you are contributing.

VENUS IN AQUARIUS, CONJUNCT PLUTO, OPPOSITE MARS

Venus moves into Aquarius on December 7 and conjoins Pluto, then opposes Mars on December 12. This is a transformative time for love & relationships and can amplify subconscious drives or impulsiveness. There can definitely be a tension in the air, perhaps the emergence of an ideal of what you truly want, that can create conflicts with lovers or friends. Perhaps you want something that you’re not quite getting….The key here is in recognizing that urge for more, and communicate it clearly to them, or through art, or through some other channel that doesn’t create harm or perpetuate negative karma.

MECURY STATIONS DIRECT

Mercury stations direct on December 15. The lessons of refinement that you’ve gained through Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius around your personal belief systems, can now fuel your journey forward. You have the wisdom now to shatter perceived obstacles and expand your energy outward authentically, with grace.

SUN IN CAPRICORN / WINTER SOLSTICE

The Sun enters Capricorn on December 21 as we welcome the longest night of the year. Capricorn season represents a time of restoring commitment in an area of life that’s been approached in a laissez-faire way. It’s a time to build upon foundations for the future and fulfill that which you feel responsible for, whether family, friends or your higher calling. May you bask in and appreciate what you’ve already cultivated to get to this place.

VENUS SQUARE URANUS, MARS RETROGRADE OPPOSITE PLUTO

December 28 is a day to watch out for when it comes to explosive arguments. Uranus can bring shakeups to peaceful Venus— and Pluto towards defensive Mars. You may find yourself re-evaluating things on a level that can be destabilizing to the status quo. This transit too, will pass, but pay attention to the insights that arise at this time through your emotional body specifically.

CAPRICORN NEW MOON

The month ends with a Capricorn new moon on December 30, helping us to centre into purpose before the new year. We are getting are bearings, picking up the pieces, being reasonable and setting in motion healthy habits that can take us far throughout 2025. 🎉
